*Ryan Moore set a new post-war record of nine winners for a single Royal Ascot Meeting in 2015. The previous best total of eight since 1945 was achieved by Lester Piggott in 1965 and 1975 and Pat Eddery in 1989 when Royal Ascot took place over four rather than the current five days. Royal Ascot expanded to five days in 2002. The best ever score by a jockey at Royal Ascot is 12, set by Fred Archer in 1878.

Among current jockeys, two are dominant – Ryan Moore has topped the table eight times in the last 10 years, while Frankie Dettori, as ever happy at his favourite racecourse, has been the Royal Ascot champion six times.

Two female riders have been successful at Royal Ascot – Gay Kelleway in 1987 on Sprowston Boy in the Queen Alexandra Stakes and Hayley Turner in 2019 on Thanks Be in the Sandringham Handicap. Joanna Morgan became the first female jockey to ride at Royal Ascot in the 1978 Queen’s Vase on Gallowshill Boy, who finished ninth.
